Holiday City Service Schedule

City offices will be closed for the holidays on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020. A full holiday schedule for city services is listed below.


Send a Kid to Camp, Get a Deduction

The City of Carlsbad’s Parks & Recreation Department is reminding residents looking for a year-end charitable tax deduction to consider giving to the Opportunity Grants program.


Upgraded Digital Information Network

The Carlsbad City Council authorized the creation of a city-managed digital information network that will improve connection reliability at greater network speeds, give the city flexibility to adapt to greater technology demands and reduce the city’s network operational costs by $2 million over the next five years.


New Housing Committee

The Carlsbad City Council has appointed members to a new community advisory committee that will help the city update its plan for how to accommodate new housing required by the state.


Connect Carlsbad Survey

The City of Carlsbad is developing Connected Carlsbad: An Inclusive Roadmap for a More Connected Community, to guide it in its efforts to provide a high-level, organized strategy to using data and technology to improve service and community engagement. Fundamental to this roadmap is taking a human-centered approach to everything the city does and is asking the community for their feedback in preparation for the future. Recyclable vs. Non-recyclable

Online shopping is done and your packages are delivered. Now what? Learn what’s recyclable and what’s not. Only one of the materials in the photo can be placed in your recycling bin. Can you guess which one?


Green Business Network

The City of Carlsbad is the first city in San Diego County to join the California Green Business Network, a statewide network of 4,000 certified businesses in 40 cities that are committed to environmentally sustainable practices.


City Seeking Nominations for Citizen of the Year

The City of Carlsbad is now accepting applications for Citizen of the Year, an annual award recognizing Carlsbad residents who have provided outstanding service to their community. Nominations will be accepted through March 15.


Christmas Tree Recycling

The City of Carlsbad and Waste Management are offering free, curbside pickup for holiday trees Dec. 26 to Jan. 10, 2020 and drop off bin locations Dec. 26 to Jan. 11, 2020. The trees will be recycled and converted into mulch that will be used throughout San Diego County.
