Balanced Budget Approved

The City of Carlsbad will start the fiscal year with a balanced budget for core day to day city services and an increased investment in public safety, neighborhood quality of life and other community priorities.

Village and Barrio Update

The Carlsbad City Council will discuss a Village and Barrio building and development moratorium at its June 25 meeting. City Council voted on June 11 to place this item on the agenda. The staff report is now available.

County to Use Wireless Emergency Alert to Test Earthquake Warning

When your mobile device buzzes with an earthquake alert from San Diego County this Thursday, June 27 at 11 a.m., don’t be alarmed. It’s only a test. The alert on June 27 is designed as a trial of the State of California Earthquake Early Warning, also called a ShakeAlert.


TGIF Concerts in the Parks Begins

The City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Office has lined up a combination of new and innovative bands and returning favorites for the 2019 TGIF Concerts in the Parks series, which starts June 21. The free outdoor concert series run every Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. through Aug. 16 at four different city parks throughout the city.


New Cannon Art Gallery Exhibit

The City of Carlsbad is hosting Light and Space: Contemporary Continuations, June 23 through Aug. 25 at William D. Cannon Art Gallery, located in the Carlsbad City Library complex at 1775 Dove Lane. The opening reception is Saturday, June 22. Admission is free.

Go on a Reading Adventure This Summer

The City of Carlsbad’s 2019 Summer Reading Adventure for adults, teens, children, including toddlers and babies, is underway and runs through Aug. 11 at all Carlsbad library locations. This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories.” Participation is free for all ages.
